About Oxford Inspires

Oxford Inspires is the cultural development agency for Oxford and Oxfordshire. Many people know us as the organisation that successfully took Oxford and Oxfordshire’s bid to the final round of the competition to become European Capital of Culture 2008. Fewer may know that the work of Oxford Inspires continues.

As a result of reaching the Capital of Culture shortlist, Oxford was awarded the title Centre of Culture. Today, with the continuing and valuable support of our five original stakeholders, Oxford Inspires is working to develop the cultural life of Oxford and Oxfordshire for the benefit of all who live, work, study or visit here.

Our small staff is led by Chief Executive Sarah Maxfield, while the membership of our Board reflects a wide range of interests in the city and county.
