Catch
a train to the Oxford Winterland
18 November 2008
WELCOME
TO OXFORDSHIRE THIS WINTER
Travel with First
Great Western and hop on a train to Oxford to experience
a vast range of cultural events this Autumn and Winter.
EARTH
FROM THE AIR AT OXFORD CASTLE has been a huge success,
with many people returning, time after time, there is so much
to experience and take in. This must-see free outdoor exhibition,
which includes an enormous walk-on map of the world finishes
in January.
Another reason to jump on a train is the WINTERLIGHT
extravaganza and Christmas Light switch on in Oxford City
Centre on the evening of 28th November. From 5pm there will
be hours of street entertainment including illuminated stilt
walkers, a large brass band from France, the likes of which
you’ll never see again, lantern lit processions, 2 hours
of dance showcases and a large aerial and firework installation
to welcome in the Year of Astronomy.
Visit Oxfordshire, throughout this dark season the county
is brimming with activities from Christmas Carol Services,
Advent Fairs, Shop Window Installations, Advent weekends,
Christmas
Light Switch ons, Victorian evenings, Woodstock’s
Night of a Thousand Candles and much, much more!
