The Big Bang meets WinterLight

18 November 2008

It may sound a recipe for an astronomic disaster but this is a far from a calamity. This is definitely a win, win situation. Local entrepreneur Max Mason is partnering with Oxford Inspires for the second year in a row by becoming involved with WinterLight. This year's sponsorship will work to support more activity on the streets on the night, and build on The Big Bang’s key role in helping to bring the spectacular Luminox to central Oxford in 2007.

Max is the proprietor of The Big Bang, a much praised and popular sausage restaurant based in Walton Street. He sees his sponsorship of this year's WinterLight once again as a way of supporting his local area and its people.

He said: "As owner of The Big Bang Restaurant, my sole aim is to buy and support my local environment and supporting Oxford Inspires is effective in helping to invest my profits back into Oxfordshire, rather than increasing a chain restaurant's balance sheet."

"On the evening of 28th November, The Big Bang will be based in Broad Street selling our fantastically popular, locally sourced gourmet sausages in hot dog rolls and hot apple punch to keep people warm as they watch the festivities. We will be offering a 25% discount on a plate full of fine tasty local fayre at the restaurant to anyone who brings in one of the flyers handed out by our staff on the night."

So on 28th November, stop by and say hello to Max and his team and be part of the second WinterLight in Oxford, on the same evening as the traditional Christmas light switch on. Visit the city’s museums, galleries, theatres and open spaces which are offering after-dark experiences from stargazing at the Museum of the History of Science to fire sculpture and festive fanfares in Bonn Square. Why not head over to The Big Bang for dinner afterwards and continue to support Oxfordshire?
