Tony Stratton appointed the new Chair of Oxford
Inspires
Monday 27 March, 2006
Tony Stratton has been appointed
as the new chair of Oxford Inspires, the cultural development agency for
Oxford and Oxfordshire. He succeeds the previous chair, Professor Andrew
Goudie, with immediate effect.
Mr Stratton is chairman of CPM
Group, Europe's leading sales development agency. During his 30 years
with the company he has been responsible for establishing the Group's
presence in continental Europe, overseeing acquisitions and start-ups
in nine European countries. He is a non-executive Director of The Smollan
Group, IMSG and Unisono, and is Chairman of Tonic Life Communications
and The Quantic Group. He is also a director and past President of Thame
Show.
Commenting on his appointment,
Mr Stratton said: "This is an exciting time to be the Chair of Oxford
Inspires as it develops its plans for a year of festivals and special
events to celebrate a thousand years of Oxfordshire in 2007. The recent
news of additional funding from Oxford City Council and Oxfordshire County
Council is a tremendous boost for the county. I look forward to working
with the Board and staff as this programme and other plans take shape."
Chief executive Robert Hutchison
said: "Tony is a successful and inspirational leader and has been
a committed and involved vice chairman. We are delighted that he has agreed
to become chairman during an important period for Oxford Inspires."
