Oxford
Inspires and Oxfordshire County Council make their mark with library users
Wed 13 Jul, 2005
Library users across the county
will be the focus of an innovative joint promotion between Oxford Inspires
and Oxfordshire County Council.
The cultural development agency
has joined forces with the council, one of its five stakeholders, to produce
50,000 bookmarks, to be distributed through libraries in July.
The colourful bookmarks are
printed on both sides. One side promotes Evolving City, the cultural programme
taking place in and around Oxford in 2005, which is coordinated and promoted
by Oxford Inspires. The other side publicises the Oxfordshire Library
Service's new telephone and online book renewals services, which allow
users to renew their books at any time of the day or night, and to access
a range of other library services through the Internet.
Oxford Inspires' chief executive,
Robert Hutchison, said: "Oxford Inspires is delighted to undertake
this joint project with Oxfordshire County Council. It is an excellent
opportunity to bring Evolving City to the attention of an audience throughout
the county, while also promoting an important new service being offered
by one of our stakeholders."
Oxfordshire County Council's
Cabinet Member for Health and Community Services, Councillor Don Seale,
said: "Our new telephone and online services allow people to carry
out important library transactions without having to travel to the library
and at times when it may be closed. I am delighted that as one of the
stakeholders in Oxford Inspires, we are collaborating in this promotion
of an innovative development for the county council's library service
and of the work of the county's cultural development agency, Oxford Inspires.
Evolving City offers an exciting taste of what is to come in 2007 when
the whole county will be celebrating."
