Director of Camberwell Arts Festival joins
Oxford Inspires
Tuesday 2 May, 2006
Former Director of the Camberwell
Arts Festival Jacqui Ibbotson has been appointed as the new Arts and Learning
Coordinator at Oxford Inspires, the cultural development agency for Oxford
and Oxfordshire.
The new position will allow
Ms Ibbotson to expand her interest in grassroots involvement in the arts.
She will be providing advice and support to local arts organisations,
fostering community participation in learning and cultural activities
and creating and strengthening partnerships between arts organisations
and schools in the County. She will also play a key role with Oxford Inspires
in coordinating Oxfordshire 2007, which will highlight the best of the
county's culture through a year of festivals and special events.
Regarding her appointment, Ms
Ibbotson says, "I'm delighted at this opportunity to work with artists,
communities and schools in Oxfordshire. I believe it's vitally important
to take art out of the galleries and into the streets, where everyone
can access and enjoy it. Oxfordshire 2007 will be a great opportunity
to bring new partners together and be enriched by the creative events
and activities which will be on offer as a result."
In her previous role Ms Ibbotson
oversaw the transformation of the Camberwell Arts Festival from a series
of gallery exhibitions known as Artsweek to a full-blown festival for
the whole family in partnership with Camberwell College of Arts.
Ms Ibbotson has also worked
for the English National Opera, the Royal Shakespeare Company and was
Producer of the Bridewell Theatre in London.
