Oxford Inspires aids £2.7 million Pegasus
lottery award
Fri 5 Mar, 2004
Pegasus Theatre has paid tribute to
the part played by Oxford Inspires in its successful funding bid to Arts
Council England. The £2.7 million award, made under Arts Council
England’s Grants for the Arts Capital Programme, will fund a major
redevelopment of Pegasus’s theatre complex in Magdalen Road.
Oxford Inspires worked closely with the board and senior staff at Pegasus
on the theatre’s application to Arts Council England, and will work
further with Pegasus as plans for its new complex unfold. Simon Daykin,
General Manager of Pegasus, said, "The practical support given by
Oxford Inspires when preparing our bid for Capital Lottery funding was
invaluable, and we shall expand that relationship as we turn the dream
of our capital development into reality. We see Oxford Inspires as a crucial
partner, providing both hands-on strategic support and links to wider
cultural issues".
The provision of training and consultancy services to cultural organisations
in Oxfordshire is a key part of Oxford Inspires’ work and something
the organisation is keen to publicise to cultural organisations in the
County, whatever their size.
Rachel Martin, Executive Officer of Oxford Inspires, commented, “We
were very pleased to have been able to give such hands on and in depth
support to Pegasus staff and the board throughout the detailed development
and drafting of their lottery application.”
