Stakeholders
Oxford Inspires is grateful for the valuable support of its
five main stakeholders. They are:
Major Partners:
Corporate Members:
Oxford Inspires receives its core funding from Oxfordshire
County Council, Oxford City Council, the University of Oxford,
Oxford Brookes University and Arts Council England - South
East.
We also raise money from trusts, foundations, government and
business for cultural activities across Oxfordshire.

Our Corporate Members Programme gives local companies the
opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to Oxfordshire's
cultural life and to influence the way the county is growing
and changing.
This is becoming
more attractive to many local businesses, who also benefit
from networking opportunities in a convivial context, publicity
to a wider market and complimentary tickets to arts and cultural
events for staff and guests.
For more information
about the Programme and the benefits it offers your business,
please contact Kathelene Weiss at kathelene.weiss@oxfordinspires.org or at 01865 816394.

Oxford Inspires partner Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons serve up a morning On a bright August morning, 20 of the Oxford Inspires Corporate members took up the offer of a guided tour of Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons to celebrate their 25th anniversary this year. After a relaxing coffee, there was an introduction by General Manager, Philip Newman-Hall to the history of Raymond Blanc followed by a guided tour around the kitchens providing a unique insight into all the preparations for that day's lunch via their 40 chef brigade! Guests were then also guided expertly around their 8 gardens including English, Japanese and vegetarian sections and La Vallée de champignons (the mushroom valley!) It all made for a fascinating and well rounded experience following the organic process from food germination to the dinner plate. |
News update from partner First Great Western regarding what First Great Western is doing in London and Thames Valley (LTV).
Month on month we are enjoying our best ever performance figures throughout the FGW network.
In the past year, we have moved from the bottom of the industry performance table to seventh out of the 19 UK train operators. Last month more than 94 per cent of First Great Western services arrived on time, with 91.6 per cent of trains arriving on time over the past 12 months.
In LTV, punctuality and reliability of our services is the best it has ever been anywhere on our network, and we’ve dramatically reduced the number of trains we cancel - but we know we have more to do to really deliver for our customers.
At the end of Period 3, which ran from May 31 until June 27, almost 96 per cent of services ran to time in LTV for the fourth month in a row. That means we have performed better than Chiltern Railways for the last twelve weeks.
At the time of writing, the annual average for trains running on time was 93.4 per cent in London Thames Valley, compared with 86.2 per cent for the same period last year.
Increased services between Oxford and Bicester, including a regular Sunday service for the first time, as well as running a summer Sunday Service between Banbury and Oxford, has all helped improve performance for our customers.
We are pleased to see these efforts reflected in the results of the latest National Passenger Survey (NPS).
Conducted by independent rail watchdog, Passenger Focus, the report, published on Tuesday, June 30, tells us customers are even more pleased with the service we provide than they were this time last year.
81 per cent of First Great Western customers are happy with our improving service – an increase of nine percentage points on the results from Spring 2008.
Those who took part in the survey particularly welcomed improvements to the reliability and punctuality of services, the condition of our trains, and the welcome at our stations.
We’re currently working with Network rail on the six-week block from Oxford – Worcester. This is the first stage of work to re-double the line from Charlbury to Evesham. The work on the route so far is progressing well.
Yours sincerely,
Sue Evans

Corporate members of Oxford Inspires,
ImageWorks,
the renowned city design agency, have created a pair
of startlingly themed vehicle wraps for the Oxford
Science Park.
The black cabs and buses feature a colourful and dramatic
periodic table wrapped around the vehicles. This iconic
campaign is already creating comment and interest, particularly
amongst Oxford's science and academic community.
The striking vehicles seem to be popping up everywhere
from Wikipedia to personal blog spots around the world!
Great for Science Park awareness, great for literally
making the topic of science even more accessible.

In 2008, Blake Lapthorn proudly took on the role of Major Supporter for the Planet Earth Season including the sponsorship
for the widely acclaimed Earth from the Air at Oxford
Castle Exhibition which ran from September 2008
to February 2009.
To complement the Planet Earth Season, Blake
Lapthorn offered Green Business Breakfast seminars
from October to December. At each breakfast, there was
a short presentation by a leading authority on a "green"
topic, followed by the opportunity for questions, debate
and networking.
The Green Breakfasts were a huge success, and Blake
Lapthorn is pleased to announced they will continue
with a new series this year. As before, the seminars
will offer an overview of how businesses can simultaneously
tackle climate change and become more efficient through
their use of resources.
The first seminar will commence on Wednesday 4 March
