John Piper – The Gyselnck Collection

Art At The Edge
Venue: The Ashmolean Museum, Oxford
Tickets: Free admission
To celebrate the London Olympics 2012, the Ashmolean will display a group of bronze sculptures from Art At The Edge, a commissioned series of sculptural studies, representing different Olympic and Paralympic sports. Each sculpture is cast in bronze and made by a different artist to reflect the cross section of contemporary British sculpture. The works will be placed in the Ashmolean’s Human Image Gallery, amongst the Museum’s permanent collections.

Shooting on the Front Line: One Soldier’s War in Afghanistan

In a radical departure from the normal art displays hosted at the Oxfordshire Museum, The Soldiers of Oxfordshire are pleased to bring to Woodstock the dramatic photographs of Major Paul Smyth. This photographic exhibition features the captivating and thought-provoking photography of TA Reservist Major Paul Smyth, a Territorial Army Officer from Henley, documenting his tour of duty in Afghanistan between April and October 2010.
