WOOD Festival: A Celebration of Music and Nature

With a number of awards already to its name, WOOD is fast becoming the must-go-to festival of the year. With the event selling out in advance in 2010, this year families across the county are clamouring for tickets.

WOOD was created by the Bennett Brothers (who are also behind TRUCK festival and OX4) to be Britain's greenest festival. It is run completely on renewable energy, harnessing the power of the sun, the wind and even the people who attend the event (through a cycle-powered cinema and disco). There are also composting toilets (no portaloos!) and a stage made of - you guessed it - WOOD.

WOOD isn't about just standing around and watching bands, although you could be forgiven for doing that with a line up that includes acts as varied as Willy Mason, Eliza Carthy Band, Thea Gilmore and Mama Rosin.

The other side of the festival is about trying new things, learning news skills, getting involved and, dare we say it, learning something. With over 100 workshops and talks going on across the weekend, you're bound to find a hidden talent. This year's workshops include:

DIY Wormeries / Upsidedown Tomatoes /Hedgehogs and Suburban Wildness / Lanterns from Jam Jars / Make Musical Instruments From Junk / Willow Sculptures for Kids: Make a Giant Dragonfly / Garland Pom Broaches / Yoga for Children / Drama 4 Evry1 / Home Composting and General Gardening Advice / Making Nettle Cord Animal Spirit Medicine /Jewellery Making / Decorative 3D flowers/plants / Musical Munchkins

This year's festival takes place at Braziers Park in Oxfordshire from Friday 20th - Sunday 22nd May.

WEEKEND TICKETS: £95 for adults (including camping and all workshops)

YOUNG PERSON TICKETS: For ages 13-17 is £65, and as before Children 12 & under are FREE (if booked in advance). All under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
