Wesley-Barrell takes craft to Art in Action at Waterperry Gardens
Now firmly established in the craft calendar the third Wesley-Barrell Craft Awards attracted over 250 entries competing in two categories of Furniture and Vessels for Interiors. The judging panel met recently and after much deliberation Wesley-Barrell is delighted to announce the shortlist.
The selected pieces to be showcased as part of a national touring exhibition which starts at the newly rebuilt and refurbished Wesley-Barrell showroom in their home town of Witney as part of a programme of events designed to mark the opening. Pieces will be available to view from Thursday May 5th 2011.
Wesley-Barrell is delighted that the showcase will then travel to one of Britain’s most inspirational showcases of creative talent – Art in Action running from Thursday 21st – Sunday 24th July at Waterperry House, Oxfordshire when the winners will be announced.
Juliette Barrell from Wesley-Barrell explains the rationale behind the Craft Awards and participation in Art In Action – ‘Without support we are in danger of losing our craft skills in the UK. Wesley-Barrell is a company that prides itself on combining creativity with supremely skilled craftsmanship in the production of it’s upholstered furniture. Issues of sustainability and greater environmental awareness continue to influence our shopping decisions. The Wesley-Barrell Craft Awards is an initiative that throws the spotlight onto the quality and integrity of craft pieces being made here in the UK.’
