Oxford City Council – Investing in Oxford’s Future
Building a world-class city for everyone.
Oxford has a wealth of cultural activity for all to enjoy and the Council is proud to support the sector through partnerships and new initiatives such as the Old Fire Station, a joint project with Crisis, the single homelessness charity and Arts at the Old Fire Station, a new organisation set up to manage the arts spaces in the new venue. The Old Fire Station is due to open in October 2011.
The Council is also currently improving and enhancing the Town Hall and Museum, which will include a new shop, re-vitalised café and new galleries for exhibitions and learning activity. The Museum of Oxford’s summer exhibition this year is Curiouser and Curiouser...

Discover how Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland have inspired different art forms from work by local artists to book covers and promotional images by illustrators and designers.
Featuring historical collections on loan from the Lewis Carroll Society, and fun art and craft family drop-in activities on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons of the school holidays. Design your own Mad Hat or a crown fit for the Queen of Hearts! You can also read the stories written by famous Oxford author Lewis Carroll, or try on a Alice character costume.
The exhibition will be open 10.00am to 4.00pm, Monday to Saturday.
Family activities will be available at the Museum of Oxford during opening hours, or in the Town Hall Gallery from 1.30pm to 4.00pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout the school holidays. There is a charge of £1.50 for the craft activities.
