Local Artists Create Work for Christmas Light Night
In preparation for the CHRISTMAS LIGHT NIGHT celebration in the city on 27 November 2009, artists and arts teachers from around Oxford recently gathered with Fusion and Same Sky to start creating artistic lanterns to take part in a magical procession that will walk through Oxford City Centre.
This workshop which was held at OVADA on sat 7th Nov, will be followed up with workshops in local schools and community centres across the city. The resulting lanterns and their makers will have a key role in Christmas Light Night as the children’s lantern procession makes its way through the historic centre of Oxford turning on the city’s lights as it goes.
Christmas Light Night, the artistic workshops and the resulting children’s lantern procession is made possible through the joint efforts of many partners and supporters including MINI Plant Oxford through Oxford Inspires. Plant Oxford has been a committed partner supporting similar civic celebrations and young people’s activities in the city in 2005, 2007 and 2008.
