Introducing...Launch Collaborative
Launch Collaborative is made up of Emily Alexander, Sarah Mayhew and Phil Marston, who met many moons ago as fine art undergraduates. Having graduated, gone their separate ways, and developed different skill sets exhibiting, curating, working within event management, communications, and personal development in cities across Europe, they’ve reunited fusing skills and ambitions to form an artist and curatorial collaborative based in Oxford.
Launch Collaborative aims to provide a platform for creative exploration, showcasing some of the best contemporary art by early and mid-career artists, complimenting the exhibition programme with workshops, in-conversation events, and lectures. With the intention of promoting, exploring and contributing towards new and exciting opportunities within Oxford, Launch Collaboratives goal is to provide exhibition opportunities for local artists, at the same time drawing other artists and audiences into the city. Launch Collaborative aim to encourage public interest in the visual arts, whilst remaining committed to artists’ integrity and striving towards the development of sustainable careers within the arts.
Interested in social dynamics and the psychology of space, Launch Collaborative are keen to utilise unusual exhibition spaces within Oxford city centre in order to gain maximum exposure for exhibitors, in turn facilitating greater interaction with a wider audience.
Current Exhibiton: THIS IS A STICK UP
What? THIS IS A STICK UP showcases the work of artists and illustrators posters on permanent and free standing boards around Oxford City Centre. These display boards are normally used to promote Town and Gown musical and theatrical events. The selected artists' and illustrators' posters are printed and pasted to these boards and sit alongside these promotional posters creating an unexpected and un-commercially orientated visual dialogue in a sea of audio promotion.
Who? Wander the streets of Oxford and keep an eye out for new poster works by Lee Jackson. Jackson's works are a way to introduce some aspects of the natural world into a suburban environment where nature can sometimes be overwhelmed and lost. The bold minimalist texts are meant to trigger an image in the viewer’s eye of a simple but common natural scene.
Where? Alfred Street, Blue Boar Street, High Street, Pembroke Street, the Covered Market & St Clements.
