Oxfordshire’s Art Teachers exhibit at O3 Gallery, Oxford Castle
The O3 Gallery presents an exciting 4 week exhibition by art teachers from across the County.
The chosen artwork which spans across creative disciplines has been submitted by all types of educators from university lecturers to primary school teachers.
Highlights of this eclectic showcase include a vibrant abstract oil painting by Lord William’s School teacher Jane Strother entitled ‘First Blush’. In sharp stylistic contrast, Oxford Brookes University’s Adrian Pawley will present the ‘Laser Cut Glitch’, a piece of digital artwork which evolved from an accidental digital glitch or error, recorded while transferring videotape to the computer for editing. Isobel Jasmine Baugh of Oxford’s Dragon School will exhibit an exquisite textile piece which combines different materials and processes to create a mellifluous wearable sculpture. Independent teacher Rhiannon Evans will create a site specific installation and ‘happening’ using rope and thread, reflecting the history of the O3 Gallery and Oxford Castle by demonstrating entanglement, capture and attempts at escape. Renowned illustrator and local illustration teacher Korky Paul will be exhibiting a print from his latest book, ‘Winnie the Witch – Winnie under the Sea’, published by Oxford University Press.
O3 Gallery Manager, Helen Statham comments:
“This exhibition celebrates the important role that art teachers play in students’ creative development and offers the public an opportunity to view the artistic creations of some of our County’s finest art educators.”
Exhibition dates: 14th January – 19th February 2012 Preview evening: Friday 13th January 2012, 6-8pm
