Launch of the Oxfordshire Science Festival

This week sees the start of the annual Oxfordshire Science Festival, where hands and minds can get busy exploring, debating, experiencing and discussing science. This year the festival will take place over two weeks in March, and will be made up of over 70 different events with something guaranteed to suit all ages and interests.

The festival will launch on the 6th March with a spectacular outdoor event entitled Science in our World, where you will be given the chance to see just how much science actually impacts on your life. Twenty Oxfordshire Science Organisations will gather in the heart of the city centre to run stalls and interactive activities, transforming Broad Street into a giant, science-filled marketplace.

During the course of the day, you will be given the chance to do experiments and take part in 'hands-on' activities; come and find out how to extract DNA with just items from your kitchen, become the star of your own CSI in Think Forensic, or take part in the world record attempt for the longest human neurone chain! Step2Dance will also be there, premiering their new dance piece Street Science (which sets out to explore the limits of the human body!), as will Oxford Philomusica, who will perform their new commission, Mathemusica.
