Dancin’ Oxford Launch at MINI Plant Oxford
Last night MINI Plant Oxford played host to a dance extravaganza, which saw 200 guests gather to support the art form and celebrate the official launch of the annual Dancin’ Oxford festival.
Headlining the event was a new dance and film piece, inspired by the MINI Plant and specifically created for the launch by choreographer Cecilia Macfarlane, film maker Roly Carline and OFVM Film Oxford. The piece – which took its inspiration from the many hundreds of robots that operate in the factory’s bodyshop facility – proved just how effective manufacturing and machinery could be in stimulating creativity and the imagination.
During the evening, guests were also treated to spectacular performances from two other highly talented Oxfordshire dance groups. Both Crossover Intergenerational Dance Company and vibrant Hip Hop troupe Messy Jam wowed guests with incredible moves and clever choreography, proving exactly why this county already has such a solid reputation for high quality dance.
Claire Thompson, Dancin’ Oxford Festival Co-ordinator, said "It was wonderful to officially launch Dancin' Oxford 2010 with a vibrant evening of dance at MINI Plant Oxford last night. The audience was treated to a varied programme of high quality dance by some of Oxford's most talented dancers."
